Ursula Matson has had approximately 25 years of experience practising Criminal Law and has conducted matters in the Supreme Court, District Court and the Magistrates Court, including trials, guilty pleas, various applications and appeals. There is no limit to the category of alleged offences Ursula can advise you about and assist you with, noting she has represented defendants charged with Murder, Manslaughter, Rape, Unlawful Sexual Intercourse, Access, Produce and Possess Child Exploitation Material and related offences, Offences of Violence, Dishonesty Offences, Domestic Violence Offences and Applications for Intervention Orders, Drug Trafficking, Firearms Offences, Arson, a wide array of driving offences, and an array of other matters. She has run many jury trials and been successful in defending many charges, including the charges of Murder, Arson, Possess Firearm without a Licence and Rape, and she has successfully run many Magistrates Court trials and been the instructing solicitor in many more cases including very serious matters, that have had successful outcomes. Ursula is also a Migration Lawyer and can provide you with advice regarding the potential impact a conviction for an offence may have on a migrant’s visa, or even citizenship if the offence is serious enough. Ursula will use her best endeavours to ensure your visa or citizenship is not at risk of being cancelled. IF THE POLICE INTERVIEW YOU, DO NOT ANSWER POLICE QUESTIONS other than to state your name and address and, if the alleged offence involves the use of your registered motor vehicle, you are required to state who was driving your registered motor vehicle at the relevant time. Not answering all other questions of the Police will not and cannot held against you, Answering questions almost always creates additional evidence against you, even if you think you are giving a version of events that will assist you.
